As a young, impressionable 11th grader, Ritu Pillai knew that physiotherapy was meant for her and vice versa. “I have always loved the purpose of physiotherapy — adding meaningful days to a person’s life. Watching people, who were once confined to a bed, get back on their feet and lead pain-free and independent lives gave me even more motivation. To be able to make changes in a person’s life, improve their quality of living is what drives me every day,” says this young physiotherapist. While still in school, she did her due diligence by speaking to teachers, guidance counsellors and physiotherapists before pursuing this line of work — and she is all the better for it.
