Dosage
Modalert Tablet is used to treat excessive daytime sleepiness (narcolepsy). It improves wakefulness and reduces the tendency to fall asleep during the day. It helps to restore a normal sleep pattern and should be used as directed by your doctor. It may take a few weeks before you feel the full effects of this medicine.
Do not drive, use machinery, or do any activity that requires alertness until you know how this drug affects you. It is advisable not to drink alcohol while taking this medicine. Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, including herbs, vitamins, and supplements. Your doctor will check your blood pressure and heart rate regularly while you are using this medication.
Side effects
Modalert 200 mg Tablet (Modafinil Australia) is not recommended for use in patients with severe hypertension, heart failure, and heart rhythm disorders due to the increased risk of cardiovascular complications like stroke or heart attack. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended for these patients. It is also not advised to take this medicine in patients with liver disease as it may cause severe side effects.
This medicine can make you dizzy or drowsy. Do not drive or do other activities that require mental alertness until you know how this drug affects you. Avoid alcoholic drinks. It can also interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills.
Severe skin reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) or toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) have occurred in some people taking this medication. Get medical help right away if you have symptoms such as red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; a sore throat or tongue; or problems passing urine, including dark urine.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription, herbs, vitamins, and supplements. This includes any that you are planning to start or stop taking. Your doctor will want to know if you have any heart or kidney problems, diabetes, or any other health issues.
